Having lived on both sides of United States it is my personal belief that there is nothing better than southern cuisine. I am very selective when it comes to experiencing food. I wish I was more adventurous, but nonetheless, comfort foods like Mac & Cheese, Fried Chicken, Corn Bread, Turnips w/roots, Fried Fish, Corn, and Pork Chops were staples in my childhood. My mother cooked so well, I could be at my friend’s house across town and smell the goodness cooking!
We grew up on a farm had chickens and hogs. My daddy farmed the land we lived on and as a child, I could not process the richness of the earth we lived on like I do now as an adult. My parents were very resourceful: growing vegetables then preserving them by pickling, canning, and freezing. Raising and slaughtering livestock humanely that fed us and neighbors year round. If only I had a chance to live that life again as an adult by owning a piece of fertilized land to grow vegetables and fruits what a joy that would be! Unfortunately, my daddy is no longer with us for me to tell him how much I appreciated the way he provided to the family. I have spoken with my momma about all their hard work on the farm as well as maintaining a regular 9-5 job all the while taking care of the 3 of us kids.

Dear238.com Quick Tip: Good memories should be kept like treasures bad memories should be discarded like trash. I know not everyone will be able to look back on their childhood with fond memories. For those who fall within this category…I am truly sorry for whatever you suffered through, but you survived and that is the strength of a warrior!
