Romantic dinner for two? Breakfast in bed? Casual lunch? What was the first homemade meal for your love and how did it go? Did you burn the chicken? Did the candle wax drip all over the table? Maybe your romantic dinner for two went so well it turned into breakfast in bed!
Early in my relationship, I barely had time to see my spouse due to work schedules because of her working long hours. At the time (obviously not married and living across town) I was given a key to the apartment and could drop in anytime. Often, I’d plan to be there on Fridays, so we could spend as much time together over the weekends. Living about 35 minutes away from each other we tried to take advantage of every minute (you know how new relationships are)! One day during the week, I decided to surprise her with dinner. I made a simple chicken stir fry with yakisoba noodles, carrots and broccoli with lemon olive oil. I drove to the apartment after work and left the dish with a love note. No, this was not a Fatal Attraction dinner or uninvited entry. This was my way of showing how much I appreciated the relationship and understanding the long hours she was working. This was a small gesture to help take some of the stress off a very hectic work schedule. There have been many meals made, by the both of us, since then. It’s been over five years now and of all the meals, this is still her favorite. The sheer surprise of it, the thoughtfulness of it (these are her words not mine); to come home after a 14-hour day to find your sweetheart has made you dinner, with white roses and note is one of the best things ever!

Dear238 Quick Tip: It’s not about a big, grandiose meal; it’s the thought that counts. It’s about showing your love interest how much you care about them.
